rantings again!

Sunday, January 6, 2008

Finally T3 is gonna open this coming Wed and i'm shifting over! I'm rather excited about the shift 'cause it will mean a totally new environment. No more shouting like mad for customers at the Arrival counter. We're gonna be so prim and proper to uphold the good image. Haha!

Encountered 2 incidents this morn that made me wanna rant to every single person i saw.

1st one,

while we're resting behind the counters, one of the tenants came and press the bell to exchange some usd for sgd at 4am. Cause the other tenants usually will come at around 6 or 7 to exchange their whole load of currencies, so i told her nicely to come at around 6 or 7 the next time.

Another reason is also not to disturb us while we're at rest. I know we're open 24hrs but there are certain times when there is totally no flight so they can't expect us to be sitting there throughout the entire night right?

But this auntie went back and told her colleague that i scolded her for coming at that time and to come back at 7am.

What bullshit!

Her colleague came over to exchange more money in the morning and related the incident to us. I admitted that i was the one who did the transaction but never once did i raise my voice and scold her.

I know my job very well. Customers are always right. What i did was to tell her nicely to come back at a later time the next time she wants to change. She didnt inform me that it was urgent and that the customer was waiting right there(this was later clarified by her colleague).

Even if i feel frustrated that i had to wake up and convert her usd30 to sgd, i will also do it behind the walls.

But never in front of the customer.

I just feel unjust for myself being accused like that.

2nd one,

We usually put up our rates for the flights that arrived in bold and it happened to be the china flights just now. So i put it this way..

Y5.06 --> S$1

which means for cny 5.06, you get 1 sgd. It's for converting CNY to SGD. This is done so as to let our passengers see the rates at one glance, without having to stand there, trying to figure out the difference between buying and selling and asking about the rates repeatedly.

This lady(another auntie) came and wants to get sgd100 worth of cny. So i told my colleague to get some more money from her to make up a round figure. Then, she asked how much am i giving her and started pointing at the rates that we put up.

That's when i knew she misunderstood.

So i explained to her the difference and she wanted to cancel the transaction. At first i told her we cant 'cause i already closed it. But she insisted so i gave in. When i gave the money back to her, again i told her nicely, to check the rates next time before changing money 'cause buying and selling is a big difference.

She just took the money, didnt even say thank you and 'GIN' me!

Like i deserved it. And, i had to do a last min cancellation just for her!

Moral of the story, do not make any comments in future after the transactions. If unhappy, go behind and curse to heart's content.

Like now.
