Batam Trip - Day 1

Wednesday, July 2, 2008

1st day at Batam

As usual, 4 of us met up at Batam Ferry Terminal to buy tics and have lunch. Luckily we were there early 'cause the last ferry to Waterfront Terminal was at 2.30pm! If not we would have to call off the entire trip.

Reached there about 2.30pm(Indo time) and proceeded to immigration to get our passports stamped.

Staying at Harris Resort has its privilege.

We don't have to queue up at all! The resort recep will take care of everything. We just had to hand over our passport and head straight for the resort in their mini van.

We were served this while checking in..

our welcome drink that tasted like rose milk and cold cold towels!

and maps for us to find our way around the island.

while waiting to be checked in. that's my boy standing on the left.

Finally we're in!

The room..

Big!

But we still prefer the suite over at Holiday Inn. =(

sad that we couldn't get it 'cause this was so impromptu, everywhere else was taken!

.

.

At least the sceneries from the balcony made up for it..

restaurant

Sea view

HAHA!! better than nothing. SEA VIEW lei! Although the sea is not blue and somemore blocked by trees.

More of the room..

bathtub!

the other side of the toilet

Getting bored with the room, we decided to head out. First stop - Nagoya Hill!!

I don't know why i never take any photos there til we finished our lunch and went over to A&W for dessert.

Too hungry i think.

The very missed Root Beer Float and Waffle ice-cream. Yummy!

After that, we walked around the entire building and ended up buying nothing, except 2 yellow cloths for wiping the cars. Basically, our main motives here to stock up on our groceries.

.

.

Next stop - Top 100

This is where we bought alot of tissues, shampoos, tidbits, and miscellanous stuffs for the house.

And had problem stuffing all of them into our bags later on.

No pictures too. Too busy grabbing everything in sight. The bill came up to about S$60+ which is considered very cheap. If we were to buy the same amount in SG, it would had been over $100.

Last stop for the day - Golden Prawn 933

The place where we had our dinner. Live seafood! Still swimming and kicking alive right under your nose.

We told them what we want and they catch it from the water to show us the size. If we want it, they will put them into separate baskets, waiting to be cooked.

Hongkong style, stir-fried sambal.. whichever way we like.

while waiting for the food..

until wanna sleep..

LOL!

finally.. the food came!

Kai Lan and Sambal Dua Tao

Chiili crabbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb!!

Sambal sotong which cost only about S$6!

and hongkong style seabass

Whole meal cost about S$80 which include all the above dishes, 4 huge coconuts and free flow of rice.

CHEAP!! CHEAP!!

Headed back to the resort by the cab that we hired. Whole day for just $40. But that was after some bargaining. He wanted to charge us $70 lo! Mad!

.
